ESSENTIAL INFORMATION

PLETT MARINE SCIENCE SYMPOSIUM
Lagoon Room, Beacon Island Resort
Friday 10 July to Sunday 12 July 

• The symposium takes place over three days with up to 3 sessions daily. A session consists of a grouping of 2 or 3 presentations of 20 minutes each, followed by a joint moderated Q&A. The programme will be finalised once all speakers are confirmed.
• There is no cost to participants. If you have sponsors, PT can include exposure for them on the website, to be confirmed following discussion on the details.
• This is a Plett Tourism initiative. Advertising, marketing and media for the Plett Ocean Festival will be managed by the PT Association at no cost to participants, you are requested to market your own event in addition to the Plett Tourism marketing effort.
• Ticket sales for the symposium are managed by Plett Tourism.
• An honorarium of R1,000 will be paid to each participant in the symposium, on supply of bank .
• Travel to Plettenberg Bay, meal and accommodation costs will be for your own account. Tea and coffee is freely available at the venue.
• You will be given full access passes to the symposium for up to 4 guests, on request and submission of their names. These will be issued nearer the time.
• You will be given full access passes for your students or volunteers on request and submission of their names. These will be issued nearer the time.
• You will be provided with a link to media kits, images and festival information, and are requested to commit to promoting the event to your databases.
• Audio visual equipment and a mic is provided, with a cinema-style seated audience. Please bring your laptop, or one can be made available to you. Your presentation should be no longer than 20 minutes.
• Please fill out details below, to be submitted no later than 15 May 2026

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS APPLICATION DOES NOT CONFIRM YOUR INCLUSION ON THE PROGRAMME. We will be in contact once all applications have been considered. Once the programme has been confirmed, a whatsapp group for communications will be set up.
