The Addo Submarine Canyons

The Addo Submarine Canyons

The Addo Submarine Canyons are a highly productive offshore ecosystem where ocean currents drive nutrient upwelling that fuels a rich and diverse food web. Lloyd Edwards presents a year of exploration and observations of the system, including large aggregations of fish, dolphins, and whales. It highlights how deep-sea canyon environments support marine biodiversity and why understanding these systems is essential for conservation and ocean management.
