Understanding risk, awareness and prevention
Rabies at the Coast

Rabies at the Coast

A recent rabies outbreak among Cape fur seals has created a unique and unprecedented public health challenge. Thabiso Mokhatshane presents emerging research into exposure risks, awareness levels and prevention practices among people who regularly interact with seals along the South African coastline. The findings contribute valuable insights for public health, occupational safety and marine wildlife management through a One Health approach that recognises the connection between people, animals and ecosystems.
