What stranded whales and dolphins reveal about our oceans
Stranded on the Shoreline

Stranded on the Shoreline

Every stranded whale or dolphin tells a story about the health of our oceans. Drawing on more than five decades of stranding data to
explore patterns in marine mammal mortality along South Africa’s coastline, Jean Purdon highlights key threats such as entanglement and ship strikes, and shows how citizen reporting and coordinated response systems are essential to improving our understanding and protection of cetaceans.
