Tenikwa rehabilitation facilities are not open to the public on normal tours as most of the animals being treated need privacy and quiet to heal, and must not  become accustomed to humans before they are released. This special tour gives you a unique tour behind the scenes, conducted in a manner which will not compromise the rehabilitation process of the animals and birds in rehabilitation at the time.

ABOUT TENIKWA

Tenikwa accepts injured or abandoned animals, terrestrial and marine mammals, and birds, into temporary captivity for treatment and preparation for release. Working with nature authorities and conservation organizations, Tenikwa rehabilitates and releases between 250-450 wild animals annually.

Various conservation-based tours, including Wild Cat Encounters, to educate visitors about the indigenous wildlife of South Africa  are offered. These tours help raise awareness about the challenges facing South Africa's wildlife, such as habitat loss, human-wildlife conflict, and the impact of unsustainable practices.

Tenikwa supports local communities through eco-tourism, offering tours and unique accommodation options, where you can sleep just whiskers away from the lions. Educational Programmes like the EcoKidz Family Challenge engage children and teach them about conservation.
